PostHeaderIcon Instill Your Personality Into A Los Angeles Interior Design Home

When we finally decided to build our retirement dream cottage and sell the big behemoth we called home for so many years, we contacted a Los Angeles Interior Design firm to do the renovation and decorating of this little cottage in the countryside. My husband is an old time radio buff. The hardest part of this transition was parting with his huge collection of antique radios, phonographs, and TV’s.

This little cottage actually did have an extra room which was probably used as a sewing room. Since I don’t sew and my husband wanted to keep a few items from his radio shrine he became the rooms new tenant. When we told the Los Angeles Interior Design firm about our wishes for the room, they seemed most excited about it.

The magic they performed in that room could fill a magazine article. They treated this room as an art project. Some of the many ties in’s was to showcase a large floor standing radio, a crank up Victrola and a very early production television set which all had very similar cabinet colors, by staining the hand picked wood used for the bottom of the wainscoting to match the popular cabinet colors of that era. Above the chair bumpers the custom printed wall paper was made from copies of radio, TV and appliance ads from the same era as the equipment on display.
